Enameling is a painting by
distemper paints on metal vessels and then baked on furnace. Absolutely, enameling is a Persian word
that means soil and fire. This word has various meaning. In gnosis
means beauty, in poem, azure-down is an irony for sky and sea is
simile to azure-pond. So enamel is applied to this art and refers to
mild-colour like blue and azure. |

The
first enameling is used for decoration of places, courts or is fixed
on different kinds of objects like: entrance doors of palaces,
porticos, harems, button of cloth, cover of book, the hilt of a
sword or dagger, kalian, small chests in form of gem. So, is named
cell-enameling. |

In this method, at first, the enameller
must make some holes on object and then full it by distemper paint
and baked it on furnace. So, this paint is become hand and solid. By passing of time, the enameling
vessels and changed by different shapes and colours. |

At
present, in 70-75 countries, the skilful enamellers are working by
different methods according to their nationality, culture and
interest. In this point, Iran is at first class of enameling in the
entire world in aspect of method, size, quality, beauty, accuracy
and fines. |

The archeologist found the ancient
enameling in the "selt" tribe that lived in Eastern Europe. They
traveled continually so, they had a good chance for improving this
art. In Iran, the most ancient
enameling work belongs to the achaemenian dynasty. This art hadn’t
progressed until safavid dynasty. But in Qajar dynasty, this art was
on top. Since, the kings and ruler concerned about the art, poem,
music and they paid special attention to the artists, poets,
musicians and supported them. So this art improved and progressed
day by day. At present, the enameling works in various sizes or
colours in Isfahan. |
